The barefoot wedding photographer

At ICKOOTU we pride ourselves on being prepared for any eventuality, in factit's become a standing joke that whatever you could possibly need in anemergency can be found in my 'back-up bag'.

Of course, you would always expect your photographer to have a back-upcamera and spare lenses at a wedding, but my magic bag of just-in-case itemshas come to the rescue on many occasions - safety pins that have spared many abride's modesty, mints for grooms panicking about pre-ceremony pub breath,plasters for killer-heel issues, tissues for emotional mums, spare confetti andeven a sewing kit that has re-made an entire bridesmaids dress with seconds tospare to name just a few. Allof that, and you can imagine my horror upon realising at last weekend's weddingthat there was something I had never thought to include in my bag - spareshoes!

On the lovely walk from the pub with the boys to the pretty village Church on Saturday, one of my shoesbroke on the way! I just have to send HUGE thanks to our bride's lovely auntywho saved me with the incredibly kind loan of her comfy evening flip flops tosave my embarrassmentthrough the ceremony! The reception onwards saw me working barefoot, so I amparticularly thankful that this was a festival style wedding, so I fit rightin!

I can't wait to tell you (and show you!) all about this wedding, it wasabsolutely bursting with the most beautiful details and ideas, an absolutely gorgeous andlovely couple, family and guests who made us feel like family too from the minutewe arrived. We'll be back with all of that once the photographs are ready, butfor now I just wanted to send my thanks to Anna's aunty - I don't know what I'dhave done without you (apart from embarrassing myself further!). And Anna andDan, it was such a joy to share your amazing day. Hope you are having a greattime on your 'mini-moon' and we'll speak to you soon!

Oh the joy when you get to combine a commercial shoot with your 'happy place'... We had the best day shooting for Notts County Cricket Club for their wedding brochure - yes, you can get married there! Not only is it crammed with history, a-ma-zing views of the pitch from both your ceremony in the Long Room and from your reception, and has extremely talented chefs - it also has the most marvellous staff too. Fact. ICKOOTU 'hearts' NCCC, that's all there is to it.

Tom Browns shiny new deck!

We always love a shoot for Tom Browns brasserie at Gunthorpe (not least for the fancy dishes we get to sample after photographing them - well, that's if the owner doesn't get stuck in himself if we aren't quick enough...Robin;).

This shoot was for phase two of their stunning refurb (will post pics of the inside phase later) of the deck area outside. If you haven't been before you need to get yourself down there to bask in the sunshine with a cocktail or delicious meal. In fact, you don't even need the sunshine, as they now have an amazing fire under the canopy with snuggly sofas and blankets to hand - they think of everything!

Mmmm, bed....

We always love a road trip - for the mix-tapes (how old are we?!) and loud singing in the car nearly as much as the shoot itself! This interiors shoot took us up to a linens mill in Manchester to photograph all manner of scrumptious bed linens and fluffy towels. Mmmm.

Note to self: Do not allow Eleri to eat Midget Gems on road trips anymore, is like catnip to her. Only rationed amounts allowed in future, if at all. Sorry E - love you! x

Riverbank - The Gallery

We have been photographing 'The Gallery' at The Riverbank Bar & Kitchen on Trent Bridge - their fantastic function room, which is tucked away upstairs at their lovely riverside venue. It is perfect for all sorts of events from weddings through to conferences. It is in such a great location right by the water, with the loveliest staff and we can definitely recommend their scrummy food!

Wow, it's been a rollercoaster few weeks in the world of ICKOOTU! Ready for a short breather for the Royal Wedding in the morning (no, we didn't get asked to photograph it - how rude!). Just before we don the Union Jack Wills and Kate deely bopper head dresses (true story, we actually have found and purchased these) and get in to the spirit of it all, we thought we'd pop on a little run of updates of just some of the things we've been up to, so here goes...

Hello!

Great day at the Riverbank wedding fayre today - thanks to all of you who sacrificed a bit of the gorgeous sunshine to pop in!

We also came across photo booth company Picture Blast, who let us hop in to their fantastic booth at the end of the show so that we could be on the other side of the camera for a change - turns out it's probably best we stick firmly behind the camera after all though, looking at the rather special results! We would however recommend it to anyone else, is much fun for weddings or any other event, and the pics would make up a fab guest book (your guests can even record video messages for you too!). We're so excited to have one of our gorgeous weddings featured on the Boho Weddings and Events blog this week! Sarah and Bob the VW Camper van have become our 'poster girls' recently (well, technically Bob is a boy, but you know what we mean), so you may recognise this shot, but if you'd like to have a nosy at their stunning day a little further visit the Boho blog post here. Oh my, we really have been terrible at keeping on top of this blogging lark, haven't we?! Time to make a change! Over the next few weeks we'll update you on a some of the things we've been up to and we'll drop in more regularly with new stuff as it happens too. We also plan to add special offers and competitions every now and again, and perhaps some random bits and bobs about ourselves too so you can get to know us a little better. Where has the time gone?!

OK so our plans to update our blog may have fallen somewhat by the wayside! (I blame Caroline) As from today though we are declaring it our April Fool's day resolution to keep it up to date!

As you can see, we launched our new website last summer so we can now upload all images for clients to view and order online which has made life sooooo much easier!

As well as the usual weddings, family shoots and events we have also been doing work for the following folk: General Teaching Council for England, Tulip Foods, Rollo Academy of Performing Arts, SureStart, TAGB Tae Kwon Do and Kirsteven and Grantham girls school amongst others.

We are currently chuffed to bits to be shooting for a charity calendar in aid of the Oncology Unit at the QMC Nottingham. Cue the naked ladies...

We are assured we weren't directly responsible for the canoeist who had to be fished out of the white water course and ended up on the front page of the Evening Post the next day! More of the same at Meadow Lane this Saturday, (many thanks to all round good bloke Dean Yates). The calendar will be available to purchase later this year.

Just for fun Eleri has been over the river at the home of football (you reds!)...

And our award for loveliest client of the month for March goes to... the Dyer family and their gorgeous girls!
